The principles of lightness and gentle form guided the design of these side tables along with some material experimentation. The round top and round section legs lend a gentle and approachable character while the fabric shelf provides texture, tactility, welcome colour and practical storage space. The carefully executed joinery defines the structure, limits unwanted cupping or twisting of the top yet allows for natural expansion and contraction wood movement. I have modified the design of these tables slightly to aid in manufacturability and to allow for a bit more versatility with shelf options.
